V02 T/As
Challenger T/As were available with two-tone paint (option code V02). This means that the roof is painted a different color than the body, and was separated by trim pieces normally found on vinyl roof cars. This option was also available on other models of the Challenger and Barracuda. Unlike those models. the T/A top color selection was limited to either White (EW1) or Black (TX9). This option was not available on the AAR, though it was available on other Cudas. |
| Though this car is currently painted a solid FC7 - Plum Crazy (Metallic) it is in fact a coded for a EW1 - White top. I hope to see it returned to it's two-tone original state someday. |
Neither the FJ6/TX9, nor the FC7/EW1 car has Option Code V08 on the fender tag. However the EV2/TX9 car does. V08 is the code for Paint, Trim & Vinyl Roof Edit Waiver. That's the code for allowing a color or trim combination that was not recommended; however, they would still build it. I don't know why only one of these cars is coded with V08, or why any of them is for that matter. Maybe it was just a change in the way they coded the tags, since the FJ6/TX9 and the FC7/EW1 cars were built first (319 and 323 vs. 403). If you've got any information, or a V02 coded E-Body please email me. I'd like to try to clear up this area of uncertainty. |
Pilot T/A
Here's a very special T/A. It's the earliest of the 2 known pilot cars built. Pilot cars are built before the initial production run to attempt to flush out any potential design or production line problems before the heavier volume of production begins. This is not to be confused with a prototype which is used to assess the viability of a project in the first place. This car is unique and differs from the production T/As in equipment and documentation. |
| Thanks to Barry Washington of the Challenger T/A registry for the use of the photos. |
How does the car itself differ from production T/As? I know little about this car's history other than that it has been restored. It looks like a normal T/A. The only real difference I see is that it has Wheel Lip Moldings (M26). My initial reaction would be that they probably took a regular Challenger off of the production line to make this car and they were carried forward since it was standard equipment on other Challengers. However, if you check the fender tag info below you will see that this car started as an A66 car, and the 340 Performance Package cars didn't have them either. My guess is that they were added during the restoration. |

Rare Interiors
Here's a rare AAR for you. You may have seen this car on my interiors
page.
This car is equipped with the very rare White & Red Vinyl (H6EW) Interior. For
the longest time there was only one AAR known with this interior. Recently a
second one has turned up. There are also two AARs known with the White & Blue
(H6BW) interior. So far no AAR has turned up with a White & Green (H6FW) one.
