AAR & T/A Available Wheels
(Updated 10/22/2005)

This was the standard wheel for the Challenger T/A. It's a 15"x7"
stamped-steel wheel, and was painted black. The aluminum hub caps
had red stripes, and the trim rings were polished stainless steel.

Optional on the T/A, and standard on the AAR, was the styled
road wheel. It's also known as the Rallye Wheel (Code W21).
It was also sized 15"x7", and the trim rings are a source of some
controversy. It appears from looking at original cars and old photos
that the AAR got brushed trim rings, while the T/A could get the
brushed ones like the AAR, or polished ones like the steel wheels.

NOTE: Wheel options were not coded on the fender tag for
Hamtramck built cars in 1970. That means you can not tell
which wheels your T/A came with by looking at the fender tag.
You need either the Broadcast Sheet or the Window Sticker.

Wheel center caps should be silver (astrotone) like the examples above. The example on the right has been incorrectly painted dark argent, as was used in 1971.

Tires were Goodyear Polyglas GTs with raised white letters.
Sizes were E60x15 (front) and G60x15 (rear).

Important message: I have already had a few dissenting opinions
regarding the trim rings for these cars. As it stands right now I have
conflicting information on what is correct. I urge you to click here
to see evidence both for and against what I've shown above.
